Marina Dei Ronchi – Coast, Coastal Forest and Architecture
Marina Dei Ronchi combines the coast of Marina di Massa with protected natural areas and a distinctive architectural landmark in Ronchi. If you would like to combine different interests during your trip, you will find specific starting points here for beach days, nature observation and culture – without these focal points merging into a single experience.
Unspoiled beaches on the coast of Marina di Massa
Spiaggia Il Fortino is located in Marina di Massa, in LocalitĂ Ronchi, opposite Parco del Magliano. It is one of the four unspoiled beaches equipped by the Municipality of Massa. This makes this section a clearly named coastal spot that differs from the nature and architecture themes in Ronchi. Ronchi Levante is also listed by the Municipality of Massa as part of an eight-kilometre stretch of coast with unspoiled beaches. For orientation when choosing where to stay, this classification is more helpful than a general description of the coast: it shows that the area is associated with a longer stretch of unspoiled beaches, while Spiaggia Il Fortino represents a specifically named beach in LocalitĂ Ronchi.Coastal forest, nature trails and animals
The WWF Didactic Park of Ronchi is located in Marina di Massa and protects an original coastal forest landscape with typical features of a coastal forest. The nature park has been managed in cooperation with the Municipality of Massa since 1996. It is also located along the route of the Ciclovia Tirrenica, clearly defining its place within the regional landscape and route structure. Its features are unusually diverse: the park includes nature trails and wetlands as well as aquariums, a visitor centre, aviaries and a botanical garden. At the Centro Recupero Animali Selvatici “L’Assiolo”, you can observe birds in the educational aviaries. There is also a centre for the rehabilitation of sea turtles. Turtles are cared for there before being returned to their habitat. Thus, the park focuses not only on the coastal forest landscape, but also on observing and caring for various animal species.Villa ai Ronchi and Aldo Rossi
A cultural counterpoint to the nature park is Villa ai Ronchi on Via dei Fichi in Ronchi. The semi-detached house built in 1960 is considered a Rationalist building and is associated with Aldo Rossi; Aldo Rossi is named as the principal author. In terms of architectural history, the villa is also considered Aldo Rossi’s first architectural project: it was designed in 1960 in Ronchi, a district of Massa, together with Leonardo Ferrari. This building therefore brings together a precisely named location, a year of construction and a connection to two architects. If you would like to include architecture in your trip alongside the beach and landscape, this place offers a clearly defined theme. For further orientation within the same hierarchy, you can also find San Carlo Terme, Antona, Marina Di Massa, Altagnana and Forno. For the higher-level travel overview: Massa.
