On the way to the necropolis is the Centro di Archeologia Sperimentale “Davide Mancini”, located in the meadow area known as Campo dell’Arpia. The Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia offers another cultural perspective. The park encompasses the area where the Etruscan and Roman city of Populonia was built. In the upper section are the Acropolis of Populonia with temples, buildings, mosaics, and Roman roads. This creates a clear distinction between the walking route to the Le Grotte necropolis and the park area with its architectural and urban remains. Protected nature and coastal areas

The visitor center of the WWF Oasis is located on the SP40 “Base Geodetica” between Piombino and Riotorto. The so-called Geodetica is also important for orientation in the wider area: roads branch off from it, providing access to Sterpaia Coastal Park and its beaches; at the same time, the Geodetica connects Piombino with Riotorto. Sterpaia Coastal Park showcases the coastal area with specific figures. It includes an 8-kilometer-long sandy beach awarded the Blue Flag, 124 hectares of dunes and backdunes, and 155 hectares of woodland and agricultural clearings.
