Giuncarico has been documented since 772 and is mentioned in the 11th century as a fortified Curtis belonging to the Abbey of Sestinga. This church also houses an 18th-century painting of the Madonna of the Rosary with the Child, Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine. The Chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso also has its own distinctive character. The 19th-century church is situated away from and above the historic centre. It is believed to have been built on the site of the former Oratorio di San Bernardino from the 17th century. Giuncarico therefore has two different ecclesiastical points of reference side by side: the Chiesa di Sant’Egidio as part of the fortified centre and the elevated Chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso with its presumed earlier history. The Sant’Egidio community festival takes place on the first Sunday in September. The exhibition “Gli Etruschi e il Vino a Rocca di Frassinello” is also of interest for the cultural and wine-related aspects of the surrounding area. It is housed in the Rocca di Frassinello winery and combines the history of the Etruscans with the subject of wine.

The routes therefore differ not only in length but also in their stated focus: one combines cycling with regional products and wine, while the other mainly follows different types of trail through the countryside.
