It is precisely this combination of an older place of worship, Roman architectural history and the distinctive basin that makes the site such a tangible introduction to San Casciano dei Bagni's past.

Bagno Grande is also the most abundant spring in San Casciano dei Bagni. It produces 25 litres of water per second at 41.5°C. Inscribed altars, dozens of votive bronzes and a well-preserved hoard of Roman coins were recovered from the sacred basin.
