Petrognano between the Pizzorne and the Estate

Petrognano combines a location on the southern slope of the Pizzorne with a landscape where trails, woodland and rural culture are closely intertwined. The Fattoria di Petrognano lies on the southern slope of the Pizzorne, while Petrognano itself is situated at an altitude of around 350 metres. The estate covers 150 hectares and is dominated by a 17th-century villa-estate complex. Hiking Trail No. 6 – Querce del Papa connects the church of Petrognano with Monte Querce del Papa. If you want to compare a specific route, the Il Quercione route provides important practical information: it runs mainly on paved roads, but reaching the Quercione requires 2.8 kilometres of gravel road.

Villa Fattoria Gambaro and its historic setting

The cultural heritage of Petrognano includes Villa Fattoria Gambaro. It was established and developed in the 17th and 18th centuries and is protected under Law 1089 as a cultural asset of artistic and historical interest. The rural buildings of Villa Gambaro still house an olive mill and a wine cellar; part of the complex is used as a restaurant. From the panoramic terrace of Villa Gambaro, the view extends across the historic area of Sei Miglia.
