Culture in a former olive mill

A particular focal point is the Le Macine cultural centre. It is located in a former olive mill on Via del Molino, which was extensively restored for cultural use. During the event dedicated to the camellia, you can learn about the history and traditions of the area there. The focus is particularly on rural culture, olive pressing and traditional crafts. Three millstones and a frollo have been preserved in the cultural centre. This is a system for decanting olive oil using basins. The combination of the building, craftsmanship and olive processing gives the site a clearly recognisable cultural and historical profile. The history of Colle di Compito also includes the historic village itself. It developed from several small settlements at the beginning of the slopes of the Monti Pisani.
