A Place with Deep Historical Roots

Corsanico is considered one of the oldest settlements in Montignoso. The name is attributed to Ligurian-Apuan or pre-Roman roots. Local tradition also relates that corsairs who landed on the coast and advanced inland founded a village called Corsanico. This account forms part of the local historical image and complements the linguistic interpretation of the name with a traditional founding story. The development of the surrounding area is also connected with water management. Recurring floods originating from Corsanico led to the construction of the first hydraulic works. Thus, in addition to local history, the management of natural conditions is also one of the documented themes that characterize Corsanico.

Between the Versilia Coast and Pasquilio

The Gothic Line ran across Monte Folgorito; a monument there commemorates the Resistance. Thus, the paths are not focused solely on impressions of the landscape. Regional Specialties from the Surrounding Area

The cuisine is also part of the local orientation. In the surrounding area, Pane Marocco is prepared from cornmeal with a proportion of wheat flour, as well as oil, black olives and chili peppers. These ingredients give the bread a clearly savory and spicy character. Another specialty is Torta Putta, a savory, spicy rice pie. It is seasoned with plenty of pepper and pecorino.
