The reconstruction of the Montecalvario chariot shows a light two-wheeled currus with iron, nine-spoked wheels and decoration made of bronze and iron plates. Important for planning: the tomb site is rugged and unsuitable for children or people with disabilities. The Poggino necropolis is located near Fonterutoli. From Castellina, the route follows the SS 222 Chiantigiana state road towards Siena. The archaeological site is located in a forest or small woodland and comprises five burials: four chamber tombs and one cist grave. The necropolis is freely accessible. The Romanesque Church of San Lorenzo is also located in Tregole. It can only be accessed via stairs; there is no ramp for people with disabilities and no side entrances.

Cypress Grove, Wine and Local Festivals

In Località Sant’Agnese, the Riserva Naturale Senese Bosco di Sant’Agnese nature reserve protects an extensive cypress grove. Its origins date back approximately ten centuries. The Fiera del Cocomero is a farmers’ festival of rural origin that has been held in Castellina since the post-war period. Calici di Stelle takes place in summer around 10 August and combines gastronomic tastings with stargazing.
