The Foce dei Tre Confini is an old pass and was a border point between Parma, Tuscany and Genoa, that is, between states that existed before Italian unification. Adelano: Church, Hermitage and Local Traditions

The Church of Santa Maria Maddalena stands in the centre of Adelano. Construction of its bell tower began in 1886 and was not completed until towards the end of the 19th century. The Franciscan hermitage of Santa Maria Maddalena is also located nearby, on the borders of Tuscany with Emilia and Liguria. It lies along the Chemin d’Assise and also accommodates people walking this pilgrimage route. Chiusola adds to the historical picture with a medieval rural settlement, 16th-century houses and castle ruins.

Regional specialities also contribute to the character of the area. The nearby Agnello di Zeri is bred in semi-wild conditions using local hay; the lambs suckle from their mothers until slaughter and are put out to pasture. Adelano also had a historic weaving tradition in which the indigo-blue work fabric “büdana” was produced. A traditional recipe from Zeri uses “testi”.
