Numerous paths lead from Sassi through shady forests, past springs and to viewpoints. One path connects Sassi with the nearby hamlet of Eglio. Rocca and churches in the village centre

The Rocca of Sassi preserves the ruins of a signal tower that was rebuilt by the people of Lucca in the 14th century. The Church of San Frediano is located in the highest part of Sassi. In 1827, the parish church in Sassi changed its dedication from Madonna di Loreto to San Frediano. Those interested in sacred architecture will find here not only a historic name, but also several specific details through which the church can be appreciated. The Church of Madonna della Neve dates from the 13th or 14th century. Together with the Santuario della Madonna della Neve just outside Sassi, it adds another preserved historic building to the village’s cultural and religious points of reference.

The 8Sassi mountain festival takes place in the village of Sassi. Its programme includes hiking, mountaineering, climbing, ski mountaineering, caving, canyoning and mountain biking.
