Elba isola musicale d’Europa-2008

This year Tuscan Island Elba (The province of Livorno) invites professional musicians and music lovers. This is already the 12th musical festival which has become a traditional event in Elba. The original title of the festival is “Elba isola musicale d’Europa”.

The world famous viola player Y.Bashmet and G.Edelman are the organizers and supervisors of the festival.

The island’s capital Portoferraio welcomes all the guests in its astonishing concert halls “Auditorium Linguella” and “Teatro dei Vigilanti”. You can listen to the symphonic and chamber music in the ancient fortress Fortezza Pisana in Marciana. The cathedral of an old city of Rio nell'Elba have transformed into a concert hall for the time of the festival.

The citizens and guests of Elba can enjoy the performance of the word famous musicians. The programme includes such names as Y. Bashmet (viola), G. Kremer (violin), V. Tretiakov (violin), M.-E. Hecker (cello), Kh. Buniatishvili (piano), M. Helmchen ( piano) and many others. “Moscow Soloists” and “Kremerata Baltica” are well-known orchestras which will also take part in the festival.

“Elba Musical Island of Europe” festival by all means is the brightest musical event not only for Tuscany but for the whole Italy.

Tuscany: Gastronomic Festivals in October
Towns and villages of Tuscany hold various gastronomic festivals regularly from May to October. These events are dedicated to some product or dish typical for this area. Usually such festivals are organized on days-off. Sometimes they last for a couple of weekends. Fairs are often combined with diverse entertainment program. Tarot Garden
The Tarot garden as a work of art is a combination of landscape design, sculpture and architecture. The garden is located on the southern slope of the Garavicchio hill in the Tuscan Maremma, a few kilometers away from the town of Capalbio. The Franko-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle created it.

Versiliana
The festival of Versiliana is held in the town of Marina di Pietrasanta located in Tuscany, Italy. It lasts for two months from July, 1 till August, 31. The program of the 32nd festival traditionally includes drama performances, dances, musical show, as well as café meetings, entertaining events, and exhibitions.
