The province of Prato
Prato is the smallest province of the region. Still, its capital of the same name is the second largest city in Tuscany. Besides, Prato is the youngest province which became a separate administrative unit only in 1993. Industrial major in Prato was determined already in the Middle Ages. And nowadays the city produces famous textile and woolen cloths of the highest quality. The production is of great help to many famous designers. Prato is one of the most attractive shopping and cultural centres.
Prato yet hasn’t been crowded with numerous tourists, so you can cash in on that and spend time in quiet natural and provincial atmosphere. You are not likely to meet any sublime architectural monuments here. But towns like Poggio a Caiano, Cantagallo, Carmignano, Montemurlo and Vaiano are going to charm you anyway.
