The province of Livorno

The province of Livorno is stretched across the coastline of the Ligurian Sea. And it’s no wonder that the region above all is famous for its magnificent beaches. You can choose between wide sandy and narrow pebble and rocky beaches. Castiglioncello is a small town which is hiding in a fascinating bay among the rocky banks. Its pebble beaches are not large but the water is amazingly crystal and blue. M. Mastroianni once appreciated the beauty and elegance of this place and bought a villa here. National park is situated between San Vincenco and Baratti Bay. Wonderful pine air attracts many people who like to walk including jogging and cycling lovers for whom there are special paths.

The towns of Livorno are the places with well developed resort infrastructure. Cafes and restaurants, discos and clubs, tennis, riding and mini golf sports grounds, mountain biking, riding, sailing, surfing and water skiing are at your disposal. Marina di Cecina, Marina di Bibbona, Marina di Castagneto Carducci, Piombino and many other small towns are situated on the coastline. Many cities of Elba Island are also favourite resort places. Not only you can enjoy the nature of Livorno, but also discover the progress of modern medicine: spa, thalassotherapy and other treatment.

You can always switch from resting on a beach to excursions. The region between Livorno and Piombino is often called “Etruscan Shore”. Here you can visit archeological sites and museums which keep the results of ancient studies. Archeological park in San Vincenzo connects two parts of the ancient Etruscan settlement. The shift of civilizations is demonstrated by Etruscan necropolis and Roman city wall. Ancient Etruscan mounds have remained well near Populonia.

Elba is the most famous island in this region which presents the unique combination of relaxing and cognitive tourism.
